Autumn Camping

We had a fabulous time with our visitors, and the weather was perfect Fall weather for it too! After they left the weather changed to gloomy, then rainy, and then threw some nasty wind in there too. It was sad to go from sunshine and fun times to this dreary weather! I still haven’t seen any snow in our yard though. 🙂 Now I’m looking forward to the weekend after next with our parents and the weekend after that which will be family-filled.

While Matt and Jen were here we went camping in October, but it was awesome because we stayed in a tiny little heated cabin and the sun was out. We cooked our meals over the fire, had some good talks around the fire and inside in our warm cabin at the table playing card games. 🙂

It was also the first time Matt and Jen had ever seen Autumn leaves!

I’m so glad we made the short trip to Wild River State Park. It was fantastic!

It’s a nice warm sunny Thursday. Trevor is feeling like he’s coming down with a cold, so he came back from work to work from home today. I made us soup and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch. He’s working and I am keeping busy getting things ready for our visitors this weekend!

Tomorrow Trev’s old roomie Nick and his new wife Katie are coming down from Fargo for Katie’s grandma’s wedding. They’ll be staying with us Friday night and leaving Saturday morning. They are talking about moving to Washington state soon so we didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity to hang out! We haven’t seen them since their lovely wedding this summer at Katie’s parent’s home in Fergus Falls.

On Saturday afternoon my cousin Jen and her husband Matt arrive from Phoenix! They’re coming to visit us for a few days of fun and then heading to New York City to hang out with a friend there before returning back home. While they are here we have lots of old and new restaurants and places to hit up, a Social Distortion show at First Ave. to go to, and a night at a campground in a “camper cabin.” Lots of adventures and photos ahead!

Here they are last year when they visited us in the summer:

They are looking forward to experiencing Minnesota Fall for the first time. Can’t wait!

Autumn Wreaths

I’ve been wanting to make autumn wreaths for the front and back doors (people use both of them when they come to our house) to replace the very spring/summer wreaths I had made and hung. I saw a few ideas online, and then when I saw the one in this blog post, I decided that was my best option. I knew I could easily make something similar with things I already had + a trip to the Dollar Tree. On Friday I went to the Dollar Tree with Becca, and planned on making the wreaths over the weekend, but time escaped me! I finally made the time to put them together today.

Here’s the one on the front door:

Here’s the one on the back door:

They are the same but slightly different.

To make each wreath I used paper scraps (all Fall themed papers by Making Memories, Basic Grey, and SEI), buttons, fabric leaves, a wreath from the dollar store, and some artificial flowers and cattails from the dollar store. I made the little pinwheels first and then assembled the wreaths using my trusty hot glue gun. 🙂 They aren’t the most fabulous things ever, but will work for the Fall these next couple of months before Christmas decor takes over. Not too bad for digging through my stash + a few bucks at the dollar store. 🙂

Two Months

I haven’t shared any scrapbook layouts in two whole months! I have been finding a day here or there to scrapbook and get a bunch done. I only do it when I’m totally in the mood or need the “therapy.” I really enjoy the time thinking about the memories and exercising some creativity. I’ve been trying to be a bit more selective about the photos I scrapbook. If I’m not feeling it, I don’t force myself to do it. Since the last time I posted, I finished scrapbooking my photos from 2008, and now I’m up to June of 2009! I’m still over a year “behind” but I am having a fun time with these photos. I finally got to the photos taken with our Cannon Rebel! I do think it is more enjoyable to scrapbook with the nicer photos. It might be a little bit harder to choose which photos to scrap!

Here are a few I took photos of to share with you.

For this layout I used some Making Memories Vintage Findings paper and then a random assortment of things I had stashed in a drawer, including a couple of clothing tags I had been saving! The photos are from our Valentine’s Day/ Kyle and Trevor’s birthdays outing with Kyle and Erin at the MOA. Fun times!

This layout is more Making Memories paper. The photos are from Easter last year in Sheboygan with my family. It’s pretty simple, but I like how it turned out.

For this layout I used Sassafrass paper and then some various tapes, and some K & Co. journaling spots. The photos are from the photobooth at Scott & Emily’s wedding reception April 2009. So much fun! More people should have them at their weddings. 🙂

For this page I used mostly Colorbok’s Heidi Grace papers. I love the floral and bird designs in this line. Very cute! I used my EK Success Bubble punch too. The alphas are Thickers and the flowers are leftovers I cut out with my Cricut. The photos are from when Betsy and I got to see our friends, the Snodgrasses, while they were visiting from overseas.

I used the Basic Grey Basics line on this page, as well as K&Co. Amy Butler. The photos are from a Tungseth get together with some relatives who visited from Norway.

Lastly, this layout was made with Cosmo Cricket paper, Martha Stewart stickers, and American Crafts Dear Lizzie chipboard. The photos are from the first Live on the Drive we went to, where we hung out with fun neighbors and enjoyed some live music!

Thanks for looking! Time to go put some more water in Cash’s water dish. I can hear him banging on it…
