It’s been a fun weekend with cousins and friends and choir. I’m exhausted! I’ll be back later with some photos from the Twins game.
I had to post and say I am excited that I won a blog giveaway- won a Punky Sprouts Mini book from Sarah at Red Oak Lines! I think that’s a pretty great way to end my weekend. 🙂 I just spent way too long putting together a photobook on Shutterfly, but I get one for free via my friend Andrea’s house party. I love getting photo books in the mail after I’ve done them. This time I did an 8×8 of our fun Mother’s Day weekend in Sheboygan this year. 🙂
I’ve been posting a lot more lately, but it seems like my mom is the only one who reads this blog! Prove me wrong and leave me a little comment and say hi. I’d love to hear from you. 🙂
We’ve had plans for the past couple of days but end up just doing stuff around the house instead because of the gloomy weather and high chance of rain. I’ve got errands to run today, the house to clean, and friends to see tonight. 🙂 Here are a few more pages I’ve done recently, still with photos from 2008. I am however considering scrapping some more recent photos from this year just cuz I feel like it. We’ll see what I’m inspired to do next time I sit down at my desk! That might not be for a couple of days. Tomorrow cousin Adam (aka Cool Cousin Adam, or CCA) and his friend Ruby are coming from Moorhead to hang out and go to a Twins game! It will be Trev and I’s first game in the new stadium. Exciting!
Anyway, on to the layouts…
I made Pasta Primavera for dinner last night. It was a recipe I found in Good Housekeeping, and the first time I’ve cooked asparagus. It turned out pretty well for being basically just pasta and cooked veggies. I thought it looked better than it tasted though. I had to take photos because I loved how colorful it was. This is one of the many vegetarian meals I’ve tried out. I’ve been trying to cook at least one or two vegetarian meals a week. I need some more vegetarian meals that don’t involve pasta or burger in the title though, so if anyone has suggestions I’d love them!
What I’m listening to lately:
The National – High Violet
Florence + The Machine – Lungs
Damien Jurado – Saint Bartlett
City and Colour – Bring Me Your Love
High Violet is The National’s latest album. I love the first single “Afraid of Everyone.”
Florence + The Machine….I don’t love it all and it took me a bit to get into it, but I’m really liking “Cosmic Love” and “Falling.”
I just saw Damien Jurado in St. Paul on Monday night at the Turf Club. He just released a new album a couple weeks ago. I downloaded it on amazon the other day for a whole $5 and you can also download the song “Arkansas” for free right now at amazon.
I took this photo with my cell phone.
This is the first track on the album, “Cloudy Shoes.” It’s just the song.
City and Colour- I’ve been loving the entire album. Here’s the video for “Waiting.”
After a day of rain, today is a great sunny day! Trev is over at his cousin Brett’s helping him with his patio project. I was hoping to do some more gardening, but I decided it wasn’t a smart thing for me to do today. I filled a wheelbarrow with 5 loads of river rock on Friday and the past couple of days my back has been feeling it! In order to plant the last of the bulbs I have to plant I need to dig up another area of the yard before I can plant. I think I’ll put it off for another day or two.
Here’s what I got started on Friday as well:
On Friday I also planted a bunch of bulbs in this spot by the garage:
Right now it just looks like dirt, but I’m excited for what it might look like in a month or two. 🙂
We were gone last week in Fergus Falls, so I finally got around to getting us groceries again yesterday. The couponing has seemed really overwhelming lately, especially when it’s all just for a few coupons now that we are eating less processed foods and more whole foods. Last night we went to Trader Joes as well as Cub Foods, and now I can finally make a few new recipes I have been wanting to try.
I’ve also been scrapbooking a lot again lately. I won a free online class at Big Picture Scrapbooking that I’ve been taking called A Baker’s Dozen. It’s been really interesting. The idea is to get layouts done and not worry too much about detail or take forever on it. Darci Dowdle, Stacy Julian’s sister is teaching the class. She had us use an egg carton and envelopes and pre-choose photos, papers, and embellishments without us knowing what goes with what. Every other day she matches up a spot in the egg carton with an envelope and gives us a sketch and other supplies we’ll need to make the layout. What’s been interesting for me mostly has to do with what I am journaling. I realize that I don’t always share much about my relationship with the people in the photos or how I feel about them or what I’ve experienced with them in the photos. I’m trying to be better at that. It also feels good to be using up a lot of the embellishments I’ve had for a long time. Anyway, here are a couple of the layouts I’ve done so far. The sketches are for 8 1/2 x 11, so I alter them to make them 12×12.
I also finished scrapbooking my trip to Georgia from February. I did an 8×8 album, which I haven’t done in a really long time. It was fun to change things up. I always have intentions to make little trip albums like this and keep making photobooks online when I find good or free deals instead. I made myself do a scrapbook this time because that’s what I really like to do. 🙂 You can see it here.
I haven’t had a lot of words lately. Life is good but always so up in the air. Sometimes it’s hard to trust, to understand. But life is good. I don’t always appreciate it like I should. But I am always taking a lot of pictures.
A few of my fave photos from my life the past couple of weeks:
